Chrysler Pays Off Final Bankruptcy Debt

Chrysler Group LLC has paid off the last of its debts associated with the company's bankruptcy in 2009.

The $5 billion payment it made on Monday covers an unsecured note issued to the company in 2009 by the United Auto Workers union healthcare trust. The fund owned 41.5% of the carmaker until January before selling its stake to Fiat SpA, which already held a 58.5% stake in Chrysler.

The company raised the funds by selling about $3 billion in bonds and borrowing $2 billion.
