China’s Guangzhou Automotive Group Co. aims to recruit U.S. dealers at the National Automobile Dealers Assn. (NADA) show that starts this weekend in Las Vegas.

GAC, which also participated at the Detroit auto show in January, aims to launch its GS8 midsize crossover/SUV (pictured) in the U.S. by the end of 2019. That vehicle is the top-selling domestic-badged 7-seat SUV in China, according to the carmaker.

GAC says it is negotiating with “a lot” of potential U.S. dealers. The company aims to use NADA to develop partnerships and build a dealer network.

In addition to the GS8, GAC will show its GM8 minivan, GS4 small crossover and GA4 sub-compact sedan at NADA. The GM8 and GA4 were launched this year. The GS4 has tallied cumulative sales of 841,000 units since its launch in China three years ago.

GAC says its sales last year jumped 37% to 508,600 vehicles worldwide. The company’s sales are up 20% through the first two months of 2018 with deliveries of more than 95,000 vehicles.
