General Motors Co. says its track-ready Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 sport coupe will retail for $75,000 when the car goes on sale in the U.S. this spring.

The Z/28 will be fitted with a 7.0-liter V-8 engine that delivers 505 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission and Torsen limited-slip differential.

The car's braking system features carbon-ceramic rotors that reduce vehicle weight by a 28 lbs. Clamping force is provided by six-piston calipers in front four-piston units in the rear. GM says the Z/28 can generate at least 1.5 g of deceleration force.

The coupe rides on black 19-inch forged aluminum wheels and Pirelli 305/30ZR PZero Trofero R tires. The combo is 50 lbs lighter than the tire-wheel package on the Camaro SS and ZL1, according to the company.

Other weight-saving changes include a smaller starter battery, less sound deadening, manual-adjust front seats, modified rear seats, thinner rear-window glass, no tire-inflator kit, no air conditioning and an audio system with one speaker.

For an extra $1,200, buyers can add A/C and upgrade to six audio speakers. The Z/28 won't be offered with an automatic transmission.
