Growth in new-car wholesales in China, the world’s largest national car market, slowed to 0.4% in October from 4% in September, the China Assn. of Automobile Manufacturers reports.

Deliveries of passenger vehicles to dealers totaled 2.3 million units last month. When trucks and buses are included, volume grew 2% to 2.7 million vehicles.

CAAM says October wholesales fell 5% to 1.1 million sedans but climbed 14% to 1 million SUV/crossover vehicles. The group adds that shipments of passenger vehicles to dealers through the first 10 months of 2017 gained only 2% compared with the same period last year, when a tax break on small cars helped hike demand 15%.
