October car sales rose in Spain but fell in France and Germany, local officials report.

Deliveries slid 6% to 262,700 units in Germany last month, according to the KBA motor transport authority. But when results are adjusted to reflect two fewer selling days in 2016, sales advanced 5%. KBA says demand for VW brand models fell 20%. Opel sales were flat. Peugeot and Renault gained 12% and 3%, respectively.

In France, new-car registrations declined 4% to 155,200 units in October but advanced by half a point on an adjusted basis, reports carmaker group CCFA. Sales in the country were up nearly 5% through the first nine months of 2016.

In Spain, sales rose 4% to 83,200 units, trade group ANFAC says. Demand in January-October grew 11% to 957,500 vehicles.
