Car Sales in Europe Rose 6% in November

Deliveries of passenger vehicles across Europe climbed to 1.19 million units last month from 1.13 million in November 2015, industry trade group ACEA reports.

Combined sales rose 5% among the region’s five largest markets: Germany (+2% to 276,600 units), U.K. (+3% to 184,100), France (+9% to 163,200), Italy (+8% to 145,800) and Spain (+14% to 92,700).

Market leader Volkswagen Group paced the market in November with a 6% sales gain to 294,200 units. Results were mixed for the region's other mass-market sellers

Three main-market carmakers outperformed the overall market last month: Volkswagen (+7% to 282,000 units), Renault (+17% to 124,100) and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (+10% to 73,900).

Sales advanced 2% to 77,000 units for Ford. Delivers fell 4% to 107,400 units for PSA and 1% to 73,400 units for Opel/Vauxhall.

BMW Group outsold Daimler by 81,100 units (+11%) to 75,400 units (+12%). But in the luxury segment, Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz brand prevailed (+12% to 67,500 vehicles) over the BMW brand (+13% to 65,600).

Asian brands delivered a combined 193,100 vehicles in November, up 4% from the same month in 2015, according to ACEA.
