Car Sales in Canada Climb 5%

New-car sales in Canada rose 5% to 181,800 units in July, according to data from DesRosiers Automotive Consultants Inc.

The Richmond Hill, Ontario-based firm says demand for light-duty trucks grew 8% to 123,600 units last month. Car sales fell 2% to 58,200.

Unlike the U.S., where year-on-year sales have declined all year, car sales in Canada have increased each month except for a 2% dip in April. Sales through the first seven months of 2017 totaled 1.22 million units, up 5% from the same period last year, according to DesRosiers.
