Registrations of new passenger vehicles in Germany fell to 214,100 units last month from 225,400 units in August 2012, according to carmaker group VDA.

When adjusted for one fewer sales day in August than a year earlier, volume was flat, VDA says. It declares that the country's car deliveries, which rose 2% in July, have stabilized.

German registrations in the January-August period dropped 7% to 1.97 million vehicles.

Auto production in the country climbed 9% year on year to 397,200 vehicles last month, VDA reports. In the first eight months of 2013, output slid 2% to 3.58 million units.
