Registrations of new passenger vehicles in Germany slid to 200,700 units last month from 224,200 units a year earlier, according to federal auto agency KBA.

February marked the fourth straight month of year-on-year car sales declines in the country. Demand jumped 21% for minivehicles but shrank for larger models.

Volume last month in Germany fell 14% at Volkswagen, 41% at PSA, 21% at Opel and 19% at Ford. Hyundai and Renault each posted a 3% gain.

Commercial vehicle registrations dropped 13%.
