New-car deliveries grew 10% to 79,900 units in Spain last month, reports industry group ANFAC.

The March increase marks the seventh consecutive month of year-on-year improvement.

Sales are being aided by a subsidy plan that pays consumers €2,000 if they scrap an old car and buy a new one. The €390 million program, which has been extended four times since it began in October 2012, is funded equally by carmakers and the government.

ANFAC has credited the scheme for stabilizing Spain's car market, which collapsed during the global economic crisis.
