The California Air Resources Board has rescheduled a hearing to chart future clean-air policies from early December to February. The reason: CARB hopes to gain clarity about the Trump administration’s vision for national emission control standards, Bloomberg News reports.
Trump has signaled a desire to halt or roll back at least some emission regulations. During his presidential campaign, he dismissed global warming as a hoax. He also questions the Paris climate accords, under which nations have set targets for reducing their greenhouse gas emissions.
On Thursday Trump appointed a skeptic of climate change to his transition team. The move produced a temporary spike in share prices at General Motors and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, both of which are big producers of trucks that would benefit from eased emission and fuel economy requirements.
