General Motors Co.'s Cadillac unit will introduce a twin-turbocharged version of its 3.6-liter V-6 engine in August as an option in its 2014 XTS large sedan and CTS sport sedan.
The engine makes 410 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque compared with 304 hp and 264 lb-ft for the XTS's naturally aspirated direct-injection V-6, according to GM.
The company has not revealed the price of the turbo model. But it says the standard 2014 XTS will start at $45,500.
Compared to standard dual overhead cam, the twin turbo has a new cylinder block and heads, stronger connecting rods, domed aluminum pistons, a 10.2:1 compression ratio and an integrated intercooler. The two turbochargers produce a combined 12 lbs of boost.
Both versions of the V-6 are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive with electronic limited-slip differential is optional.
