The model would fit into Cadillac's lineup below the midsize SRX crossover, thus making it a competitor to such vehicles as the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLK. Cadillac chief Bob Ferguson offers no timetable for the new model but tells AN the project is "beyond under consideration.'"
The newspaper notes that small crossovers constitute a fast-growing market segment. Analysts point out that Cadillac will need a smaller crossover to gain ground in Europe, one of its key market targets.
