Bugatti Rules Out SUV

Volkswagen AG’s Bugatti brand has no plans to follow other ultra-luxury marques to launch an SUV/crossover.
As part of a larger post on Bugatti’s website, CEO Stephan Winkelmann declares: “There will be no SUV from Bugatti.” He says such a model would not do justice to Bugatti’s brand or history.
Bentley, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce already offer SUV/crossovers, and Ferrari and Lotus are readying their own models. McLaren is the only other supercar maker to rule out such a vehicle.
Winkelmann says Bugatti, which celebrates its 110th anniversary this year, produced 78 Chirons last year and is sold out through the end of 2021.
The company aims to add a second model but hasn’t said what it will be. Among the options reportedly under consideration are a sedan, hatchback, a more accessible supercar and an all-electric model.
