Plymouth, Mich.-based Brembo North America has opened a $115 million expansion of its manufacturing facility in Homer, Mich.
The Italian maker of brake systems says North America, where Brembo sales jumped 19% last year, will become its largest market by the end of this year.
The company acquired the Homer facility when it purchased the brake disc business of Hayes-Lemmerz International Inc. seven years ago. Brembo has since expanded operations there in 2008, 2012 and 2013.
The latest increase brings the plant's production floorspace to about 440,000 sq ft. The factory made 10 million brake discs and 300,000 caliper and corner modules last year. It expects to increase those numbers 25% and 33%, respectively, in 2014.
