Robert Bosch GmbH forecasts that annual sales of its driver-assist technologies will reach €2 billion ($2.4 billion) as early as 2019 as carmakers “rethink mobility.”
The company says its own growth in that area—which includes automatic emergency braking and lane-assist features—will exceed the overall market’s 25% annual expansion.
Bosch projects revenue generated by its automotive operations will rise 7% to €47 billion ($56 billion) this year—more than twice the pace of vehicle production. CEO Volkmar Denner says much but not all growth will come from supplying powertrain components to electric-vehicle makers.
Denner says Bosch expects to employ 48,000 research and development personnel in its Mobility Solutions business sector by the end of 2017, up 10% from last year.
