Robert Bosch GmbH aims to double its annual sales in Asia Pacific to €22.2 billion by 2020.

Peter Tyroller, who heads the German company's regional operations in Asia, tells The Nikkei that Bosch will focus on expanding its business with Japanese carmakers with production facilities in the ASEAN region.

Bosch has five factories in Asia Pacific now. It opened its second parts plant in Thailand late last year and is erecting its first factory in Indonesia.

The company also is spending €160 million to expand product development operations in India, where Tyroller says it will concentrate on developing low-cost technologies for the region's emerging markets.
