Robert Bosch LLC is spending $40 million to relocate its California research and technology center from Palo Alto to Sunnyvale by the end of 2017.
The move also will consolidate Bosch’s venture capital and business divisions in the same four-story, 104,000 sq-ft building. The company says the new location is more centrally located to tap into Silicon Valley’s array of universities, research institutes, tech companies and startups.
Bosch opened the Palo Alto tech center in 1999 with three researchers. The facility currently employs 100 scientists, who are working on automated driving, robotics, artificial intelligence, data mining, battery technology and electronic devices.
