BMW Group reports that its worldwide sales rose 3% to a record 169,900 vehicles in August. Volume through the first eight months of 2017 climbed to a record 1.57 million units.

BMW brand sales grew 3% last month to 146,900 cars and crossover vehicles. Demand for the company’s Mini brand minicars advanced 1% to a record 22,700 units.

Group sales in August were flat in Europe at 62,700 vehicles, as a 7% gain in Germany offset an 11% drop in the U.K. Sales in Asia jumped 11% to 65,700 units, thanks to a 12% gain in China, which generates 70% of the regional total.

August deliveries dropped 8% to 28,000 units in the U.S. but gained 12% to 4,600 cars in Latin America. Monthly sales in Japan rose 8% to 5,300 units, according to the company.
