BMW AG says it will extend its carmaking alliance with Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd. for another 10 years when the current partnership agreement expires in 2018.

The two companies agreed in March to pursue various joint projects. They also are expanding capacity to assemble BMW models at two factories in Shenyang to a combined 400,000 units per year.

Last year BMW Group sold 390,700 vehicles in China. Sales through the first five months grew 25% to 184,800 units, a pace that is likely to lead to record full-year volume of more than 400,000 units in 2014.
