BMW Group sold a record 1.02 million vehicles worldwide in the first half of 2014, up 7% from the same period last year. June sales rose 5% to a record 193,300 units.

The company reiterates that it expects full-year group sales to top 2 million units.

Deliveries of BMW brand vehicles climbed 10% to 886,300 units in January-June, including a 7% gain to 164,200 for the marque last month.

Sales of BMW 3 Series small sedans grew 8% to 233,400 units in the first half of 2014. Demand for 5 Series sedans, which also advanced 8%, reached 193,600 vehicles in the same period.

Sales of the group's Mini small-car brand fell 11% to 131,900 units in January-June. BMW blames a model changeover and notes volume for the redesigned three-door hatch core model rose 3% last month.
