BMW AG will use the Beijing auto show to introduce a new ultra-luxury model, the 9 Series sedan, in concept form, according to Germany's Auto Motor und Sport magazine.
The extended-wheelbase car, which is expected to debut in production form in 2016, will compete with BMW's own Rolls-Royce Ghost and the Mercedes-Benz S600 Maybach sedan.
The 9 Series will ride on BMW's new G11 chassis, Auto Motor und Sport says. The modular platform is expected to be used by next-generation Rolls-Royce cars and BMW's 7 Series large sedan and will help them reduce curb weight by several hundred pounds.
