BMW AG’s Rolls-Royce ultra-luxury brand has appointed Jozef Kaban as design chief, effective today.

He succeeds Giles Taylor, who quit last summer after six years to become head of design for China’s FAW Group. Taylor’s prior design experience was at Jaguar, Citroen and Peugeot.

Kaban, 46, has directed design for BMW brand vehicles from 2017. He began his career at Volkswagen Group 20 years ago, where he designed the exterior of the Bugatti Veyron hypercar and later headed exterior design at Audi and overall design at Skoda.

Replacing Kaban as head of BMW brand design is Domagoj Dukec, who has served as head of design for BMW’s “M” and “i” sub-brands for the past two years. He previously had been in charge of exterior design for the BMW and “i” brands.
