BMW AG’s worldwide car sales rose 6% in March to 254,900 units, pushing up first-quarter volume by 5% to 587,200 vehicles. Both totals were records.

BMW brand sales in January-March rose 5% to 503,400 cars and crossovers, including a 5% gain to 212,100 units in March. It was the first time the marque’s first-quarter sales topped half a million units.

Deliveries of Mini small cars also posted records in March (+9% to 42,400 units) and the first quarter (+6% to 83,100).

The strongest combine growth for the two brands through the first three months of 2017 came in China (+12% to 142,800 units) and Latin America (+19% to 8,500). Sales rose 4% to 267,800 vehicles in Europe and 1% to 81,900 units in the U.S.
