BMW AG's Mini unit says its Vision concept offers strong clues about the design of future models of the little car.
Among the style changes are a curvier hood, fog lights integrated into the grille, larger taillamps and the occasional use of sharp character lines to give the Mini a stronger "sense of precision."
The Vision features several aerodynamic elements expected to make it into production. They include front fender slots that direct air through the wheel wells and wheels and exterior mirror housings designed for smoother air flow.
Inside, the concept retains the Mini's large dial atop the center stack but transforms it into a display that shows objects in close proximity to the vehicle. The enormous speedometer currently housed there shrinks and moves to a more conventional position directly in front of the driver.
Observers say some of the Vision's front-end styling cues could appear in the 2014 model Mini due later this year.
