Ian Robertson, 59, the BMW AG management board member who has headed the BMW brand sales since 2008, will relinquish that post on Jan. 1 before retiring from the BMW AG management board on June 30.

Pieter Nota, 52, (pictured) will assume Robertson’s current duties. Nota currently is chief marketing officer at Royal Philips NV, the Dutch maker of everything from lightbulbs to medical equipment. At Philips he is described as a champion of innovation and transformational builder of high-performing teams.

Nota’s arrival coincides with BMW’s corporate push to transform itself into a more agile provider of sustainable, connected mobility. CEO Harald Krueger has described the effort as BMW’s most significant transformation ever.
