AVL Appoints New Head of Powertrain Engineering

Engineering specialist AVL List GmbH has named Stephan Tarnutzer president of its Powertrain Engineering division in Plymouth, Mich.

With nearly 30 years of experience, Tarnutzer most recently was vice president of electronics for rival FEV. He joined FEV with the company’s 2013 acquisition of DGE, where Tarnutzer served as CEO.

Tarnutzer previously held engineering positions with Siemens Europe and DaimlerChrysler. A holder of seven patents, Tarnutzer holds undergraduate degrees in electrical engineering and economics, and an MBA. He also completed an executive leadership program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
