Jaguar Land Rover's North American unit has hired longtime auto executive Duke Hale as vice president of customer service.

Hale has been working as an automotive consultant since his stint as CEO of MG Motors North America Inc. in 2006-2007. He was hired by China's Nanjing Automobile Group to oversee the return of the MG brand to the U.S. and Europe, which never happened. Hale was caught off guard when Nanjing reneged on plans to open an assembly plant in Oklahoma, and he left the company soon after.

Hale previously served stints in the North American operations of Mazda, Volvo, Lotus and Isuzu. He was CEO and COO, respectively, of the latter two units.
