August Car Sales Climb 5% in South Africa

Deliveries of new passenger vehicles in South Africa grew 5% to 32,200 units in August, according to the National Assn. of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa.
But sales through the first eight months of 2017, which totaled 239,700 vehicles, were 500 units below the same period last year.
NAAMSA says Volkswagen Group, with a 21% market share, is the country’s best-selling carmaker, followed by Toyota (17%), Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (12%) and Hyundai (8%).
