Audi AG, which has posted its best first-half sales total ever, predicts its full-year volume in 2014 will surpass last year's record 1.58 million units.

Audi's global deliveries in January-June climbed 11% to 869,400 vehicles, including an 11% increase to 155,500 units last month. The company notes that its first-half results exceeded its full-year sales in 2005.

This year's growth is being fueled by a 49% jump to 144,800 deliveries of its revamped A3 small cars in the first half.

Audi's sales in Europe for the six-month period reached 410,100 units, nearly 17,000 more than the same period in 2013. June sales advanced 6% to 69,300. The company's sales in the U.S. are up 14% this year.

Audi deliveries in Asia Pacific rose 18% to 318,800 units in the first half of the year, including a 15% gain in June.
