Audi AG is preparing to introduce the Q1, a subcompact crossover vehicle, in 2016, according to AutoBild.
The German enthusiast magazine says the front-drive model won't offer an all-wheel-drive option but will be joined in 2018 with a gasoline-electric hybrid variant.
Observers say the Q1 will ride on the same "modular transverse matrix" platform that carries the Audi A3 and VW Polo and Up!. VW also used that platform for the Taigun subcompact crossover it unveiled in concept form a year ago. Media reports at the time said VW's Audi, SEAT and Skoda units all might introduce their own versions.
