Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd. says it will unveil its first SUV/crossover in the fourth quarter of 2019.

Production of the all-new model is expected to start in early 2020. The sporty vehicle (teaser sketch, right) will be built at Aston Martin’s new plant in South, Wales, England, which also will produce the carmaker’s upcoming line of Lagonda electric cars.

The name of the new vehicle hasn’t been announced. Among the candidates are DBX, which was used a 2015 concept crossover, and the recently trademarked “Varkai.”

The crossover will ride on a new platform developed for a high-riding vehicle and outfitted with an active suspension. Power could come from a Mercedes-Benz-sourced 6-cylinder engine, according to earlier media reports.
