BMW AG says all future Bimmer and Mini models will get the traction control system introduced last fall on the company’s freshened all-electric i3 small car.
BMW AG says all future Bimmer and Mini models will get the traction control system introduced last fall on the company’s freshened all-electric i3 small car.
The i3’s stability control calculations now are done directly via the powertrain controller instead via a separate unit. This enables the computations to be made 50 times faster than conventional systems, which BMW notes will make even better use of the instantaneous torque available from the EV’s electric motor.
The improved response time also aids vehicles with piston engines, according to the carmaker. Purported benefits include improved traction, stability and driving dynamics.
