Fiat's Alfa Romeo brand is preparing to introduce seven new models within the next four years in a bid to hike its annual sales to 500,000 from about 100,000 in 2013, AutoBild reports.
Fiat is not expected to publicly announce Alfa's product plan until it unveils its latest business strategy in early May.
The new lineup will include a convertible Spider in 2016, according to AutoBild. That model will be followed over the following two years by small and medium crossovers and sedan and wagon versions of Alfa's Alfetta and Giulia nameplates, according to the Germany auto enthusiast magazine.
Automotive News Europe said four months ago that Alfa's upcoming models will ride on a new rear- or all-wheel-drive chassis. AutoBild says Alfa does not plan to develop front-drive replacements for its current MiTo supermini and Giulietta small three-door hatch.
Fiat indicated earlier that all the new Alfas models will be produced in Italy. CEO Sergio Marchionne's aim is to position Alfa as a global brand with sales volumes considerably higher than those of the group's Maserati marque.
