Takata Corp. says it will take a 30 billion-yen ($306 million) loss to cover warranty costs related to a global recall of some 3.4 million vehicles with defective airbag inflators.
The campaign, which will involve six carmakers, has not yet begun. Dealers at BMW, General Motors, Honda, Mazda, Nissan and Toyota will replace inflators that could burst when ignited during a crash. Most of the affected vehicles were made in the 2001-2004 model years.
