Honda Motor Co. plans to recall 777,000 of its Pilot crossovers and Odyssey minivans in the U.S. and Canada to repair improperly installed airbags.
The campaign, expected to begin in mid-February, will involve 2009-2013 Pilots and 2011-2013 Odysseys. All but 29,000 of the affected vehicles were sold in the U.S.
Honda says defective models don't have the proper number of rivets securing the plastic cover for the steering wheel-mounted airbag. The missing rivets could prevent the airbag from deploying correctly. The company reports no crashes or injuries related to the problem.
