Toyota Motor Corp. is launching a worldwide recall of 885,000 Avalon and Camry sedans and Venza crossovers to fix a problem that could affect the power steering and airbag systems.
About 803,000 of the cars mostly 2012-2013 Camrys are in the U.S.
Toyota says water collecting on the air-conditioning system's condenser can leak onto the airbag control module, seep inside and cause a short-circuit that either triggers the airbags or renders them inoperable.
Damage to the airbag module also could disable the vehicle's electric power steering system, according to the company.
