Shell V-Power & Extreme Car Love

Anyone who reads Autofieldblog probably has a bit more than the ordinary amount of affection for her or his car, truck, motorcycle, Segway, or other means of wheeled transport.  But then, according to the people at Shell, there is Rick Schmitz.

Anyone who reads Autofieldblog probably has a bit more than the ordinary amount of affection for her or his car, truck, motorcycle, Segway, or other means of wheeled transport.  But then, according to the people at Shell, there is Rick Schmitz. Schmitz is in a whole different category. Shell explains, “His weekly maintenance ritual includes detailing his Mercedes-Benz E350 with Perrier, using a toothpick to clean the stitching and compressed air to get water out of the cracks.”

While it seems to us that there is Schmitz and then there is everybody else, apparently there may be more who really love their cars. Shell wants to find them, so it is running a contest, they’re calling the “Shell V-Power ‘Fuel My Passion’” contest, which asks for a photo including the vehicle and the owner giving the “V” finger sign and 100 words about what they do. Five people will win premium V-Power for a year (just think: last year gas was running about $1/gallon more), and there will be a sweepstakes for a 2010 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy Lo.

“There is a limit of one entry per person per category.” We only hope that vehicular obsession is monogamous.
