Methodology

Questionnaires were sent to a universe of 5,000 subscribers of AUTOMOTIVE Design & PRODUCTION and MODERN MACHINE SHOP in plants with manufacturing SICs. The survey was sent preferably to titles involved with tooling or the best name available in the plant. We conducted the survey from August 1, 2004 to September 1, 2004. As of the closing date, 884 surveys were returned for a 17.7% response rate. A total of 824 surveys were determined usable. Unless otherwise indicated, all figures are percentages.
